Nail trends never stay stagnant - it seems like there's a new "it" way to do your nails every single year. Remember when a simple white tip was all the rage? Or, what about nail stickers? Everyone used to wear those! Ah, memories.
Well, the new nail craze has arrived, and I'm hoping it stays around for a while (basically, forever)!
I don't know about you, but I'm high key obsessed with these ever so slightly futuristic nails. They're the perfect mix of edgy and chic. No wonder they're going to be the biggest nail trend of 2017.
According to Cosmopolitan, “the data crunchers at Pinterest told HelloGiggles that chrome nails, aka mirror nails, rose in popularity this year by 570%.” You know what that means? These nails will be trending far into the new year. Yassss!
I guess it's time to put my classic nude color on the shelf for a while. Honestly, I can't say I'm mad about it. I've been itching for a new nail look and I'm hard core vibing these sci-fi looking nails.
What about you?
Are you obsessed? You should be! Imagine rocking one of these metallic colors with a nice almond or stiletto shape. Oooh gurrrlll. That would look fire!
I'm sure you're wondering just how these holographic nails are created, right? Well, I can show you better than I can tell you. Take a look at this video:
As you can see, it’s not too complicated - all you need is a chrome pigment, a base color, some type of applicator, a water-based gel top coat, and amazing nail technician skills! That's it (she says, sarcastically).
Here's a quick hint, though: If you want a silver finish, your base color should be black. If you want a rose gold finish, your base color should be pink. And so on.
Once you have your base color, you, or your nail technician (most likely, your nail technician), will apply the chrome powder over the base color, with some type of applicator, and then finish with the top coat.
If you’re one of those people who does their own nails, I applaud you and I wish you the best on your journey to recreate this look. You can order the mirror chrome powder at Daily Charme for only $16.90.
If you're like me, and unable/unwilling to do your nails, you should hit up your nearest nail salon.
Oh, and don't forget to post a pic on Snapchat and/or Instagram, so your friends can die of jealousy!
