Feeling bored with your typical makeup routine? If you've resolved to up your cosmetics game this year, here's a trend to look out for.
Glitter is in and not just for holidays. There's no reason to keep yourself from shining year round. Now there's a way to do it so you can be as bright or as subtle as you like.
Glitter strobing is the name for the full faced glitter trend. Instead of using dark contour to shape your face, you use glitter! It's as simple as that. Gigi Hadid and Khloe Kardashian are big fans of this look and are not shy about piling on the sparkle.
If you'd like to emulate this look, it's easy. To keep it simple, just use a light shimmer powder on your cheekbones or wherever you'd put highlighter. Though the shimmer is divine, it's best to pick one spot to concentrate your glitter rather than covering most of your face.
What's great about this is that you still get a more defined face shape with the glitter, while keeping everything light. It's easy to let your contour get too dark or to only work with specific lighting. With glitter, you easily draw the eye to your best areas and if the placement is a little off, you still look like a beautiful fairy.
For a higher shine, Mac has a lot of cosmetics to help you out. First apply a strobe cream, a moisturizer with iridescent particles that magnifies the shimmering qualities of anything you put on top of it. Then, use a fine grain glitter and apply as much as you want. This will really amplify your glitter, so if you're going for subtlety, this may not be for you.
As with all trends, you can customize it with what works best for you. Use a gentle rose gold for just a hint of shine or use a chunky confetti glitter for a bold look for a night out. Pinks and magentas are great to give a more intense blush effect or just a neutral iridescent gives you a subtle glow.
Glitter strobing is new and oh so gorgeous. Find your favorite shimmer and let yourself shine.
